FDNY t-shirts are still selling very well - long after the September 11th attacks of 2001. “We saw a sudden increase following the attacks in 2001, and sales have not gone down since then,” said R.A.G. owner Jason Greenstein. We have been selling the licensed merchandise along with other NYPD and FDNY memorabilia for years. “I must say, the Fire department is out-doing the Police department,” said Jason.

For the past 6 years, FDNY merchandise has become part of American culture as a way to show support for the men who risked their lives to save victims of the 2001 attacks. The FDNY logo has become engraved in the minds of many as a symbol of bravery and sacrifice. And it has become a staple of many New York stores like R.A.G., that carry FDNY t-shirts and sweatshirts.
The reason why R.A.G. believes the FDNY t-shirts have remained so popular is that now tourists who come to New York not only go for the usual “I love NY” t-shirts, but also pick up FDNY t-shirts as well - something, which did not occur previous to 9-11.”These days, they don’t stay on the shelves for very long,” says Greenstein.
In a way, the FDNY is contributing to publicize the city of New York, a role which was the “I Love NY” t-shirt’s since 1977.
