5 things you have to do

1. Go to central Park

One of the only places where tourists and NYC dwellers will share together without complains.  Central Park is a haven to anyone looking to get away from the concrete jungle for a few hours.  It offers sports in every season ranging from taking a swim to skating in the winter.
5th Ave to Central Park W and 59th St to 110th St

2.   See a Broadway Musical / Play

You’re bound to visit Times Square at least once while you’re in the Big Apple so you might as well take a couple hours of your night to see a musical, play, or comedy.  People are always standing on the street giving out free tickets or you can enter to win tickets to the major plays like Wicked or Legally Blonde.  Inexpensive quality theater.
Address: Midtown Manhattan @ 42nd Str, Broadway & 7th Ave
Directions: Subway at 42nd / St Times Square – Broadway (Q, W, R, N, 1, 2, 3, 7)

3   Take a Ferry around Manhattan

Tourists will luck out with the Circleline Downtown.  There won’t be a single City-Dweller which means pleasant conversation with other tourists.  The tour itself isn’t the most thrilling; however the visual landscape of Manhattan is worth the $25 dollars

4.   See an Indie music band

This is something that most tourists don’t succeed in doing while staying in Manhattan.  Indie bands tend to play at trendy, hip joints and the venues change every night.  Just pay close attention to the back of your local NY newspapers like AM New York to get the inside scoop about times and locations.  Ticket prices are normally cheap and you’ll get a heavy dose of New York City culture.

5.    Tour a skyscraper like the Empire State Building

Everyone likes working their way to the top and being in high places.  For those of us who like being higher than the rest, the Empire State Building Observatory is open from  8:00am till 2:00am
350 Fifth Avenue, between 33rd and 34th Streets
