Where to stay
1. Castle on the Hudson
The name of the hotel should already give you a nice mental image of what the Castle on the Hudson is all about. Deep down I’m sure we all have medieval fantasies, desire to live in the 1700’s, and don’t want to give up the use of a toilet. Luckily for people who want this, Castle on the Hudson provides a unique experience only thirty minutes north of Manhattan and over looks acres and acres of beautiful landscape.2. Dream New York
With the glowing concrete, Doric columns, and LED lit rooftop, Dream New York really does portray an architects dream. With 220+ rooms you’ll find that you’re never around too many people at once, after all privacy is an amenity that good hotels can’t do without. With its gothic interior and trendy lounge, you’ll find that wandering around the hotel after a late night at the bar will be a ‘trip’ all in itself.3. Dylan New York
Much like Dream New York, Dylan’s is easily one of the more interesting four star hotels around. It remains trendy and hip without the need for twenty stories like many midtown hotels. Dylan’s internal and external architecture blend gothic and minimalism together with ease. It’s also one of the only two hotels where the concrete glows blue.1. Brownstone New York
Till this day I have no idea why whenever a person who isn’t from New York, talks about owning property in New York City, they talk about owning a Brownstone. Well whatever the reasons are, if you want to buy one you should try living in one first. Brownstone New York offers private apartment suites to give the full experience of owning a real brownstone.2. Adria Hotel Conference
There are some people who want to visit New York City, but don’t want the rush of daily city life. For people like that Adria Hotel Conference offers a hotel in an upscale (suburban) area of Queens. Only two blocks from the Bayside station, getting into Manhattan for Broadway shows and concerts is made easy.3. Doubletree Guest Suites Times Square
Forget the slow drone of the suburbs. Doubletree Guest suites throws you in the middle of the action in NYC, literally. Located in Times Square, Doubletree is not only affordable, but the moment you walk out of the hotel, chances are you’ll be swept up by the masses and transported to a trendy lounge filled with good looking people.1. Astor on the Park
Finding Mother Nature is hard enough inside of New York City, but look no further! Astor on the Park has gorgeous views of Central Park. Recently renovated, Astor on the Park is near all of the uptown attractions you could ever want to see.2. Broadway Hotel & Hostel
For those of us that haven’t seen the movie Hostel, you should go ahead and give the Broadway Hotel and Hostel a try. Hostels are easily the best places to meet foreigners instead of tourists (like your bound to run into at the larger hotels with four stars). Though it’s a hostel, it’s ill located on the upper west side. Don’t worry, eight dollar lattes are just around the corner.3. Courtyard by Marriott Times Square South
Not the most visually interesting Hotels, the Courtyard by Marriot is located within Times Square so you’re put right next to some of the greatest attractions in New York City. The rooms are exceptional and the service is wonderful. Who cares if the outside of the hotel doesn’t look like Dylan’s, the only time you’ll be in it is when you’re coming home from a bar or a lounge with someone new.
Bargain-basement:
1. Sohotel
The only hotel to my knowledge to go through three name changes before settling onIts fourth and present name: SoHotel. Needless to say, SoHotel is located within Soho’s imaginary boundaries which put you near the heart of downtown New York City. You’ll be sharing the sidewalk with hipsters, foreigners, and designers.
